Medical tech have so far essentially been demonstrated on adults, not children, and advances are unfairly distributed across ecosystems (e.g., LDR). No coordinated EU effort exists today to scale trusted, AI-enabled pediatric Digital Health Innovations. LDR however offer new breakthroughs in AI and medical imaging that have the potential to revolutionize pediatric care but struggle to find de-risking and growth investment capital. Interregional collaboration is required to overcome fragmentation of investment, regulatory and clinical barriers.

KiDDIN establishes the 1st interregional S3 Hub to scale and deploy AI-enabled, non-invasive pediatric digital health solutions across 0–18 year-old children. The Hub will embed digital advances into 8 Regional Ecosystems, and will set up investor pipelines (prioritising LDR) to shorten time-to-market. 18 Partners will carry out this ambition, including multiple paediatric hospitals dedicated to clinical validation as well as ecosystem partners to multiply impacts.

Demonstrators will be embedded into 8 Regional Ecosystems: maternal preeclampsia prediction; AI detection of paediatric infections (CBC ± CRP); asthma and respiratory smart monitoring; ECG–HRV–based seizure detection; AI-assisted early neurodevelopmental screening; AI-driven medical imaging and 3D modelling for surgery; precision urological planning with CT/MRI digital twins; and cross-pilot integration of sensing and diagnostic data through a federated AI platform.

HDHC participates in all project activities, while leading Work Package 1 which focuses on building the first pan-European smart specialisation hub for early detection, diagnosis, and prevention of childhood diseases and conditions.
