Foundation for Research and Technology - Hellas (FORTH)
FORTH was founded in 1983. It is one of the largest research centers in Greece with well-organized facilities, highly qualified personnel and a reputation as a top-level research institution worldwide.
FORTH reports to the General Secretariat for Research and Innovation of the Ministry of Development and Investments.
FORTH conducts specialized scientific research in strategic high-added value sectors, focusing on interdisciplinary research and development (R&D) activities in areas of major scientific, societal and economic interest, such as: Lasers and Photonics, Microelectronics, Advanced Materials / Nanotechnology, Molecular Biology and Genetics, Biotechnology, Computer Science, Bioinformatics, Precision Medicine, Systems Biology, Robotics, Telecommunications, Applied and Computational Mathematics, Chemical Engineering Sciences, Energy, Environment, Human and Social Sciences, Astrophysics and Astronomy.
FORTH comprises eight Research Institutes. Its headquarters and central administration are based in Heraklion, Crete.
PRAXI Network
PRAXI Network is the leading technology transfer and innovation support organization in Greece, bringing together 30 years of unique know-how in assisting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and research organisations throughout the country. PRAXI Network is responsible for the establishment, coordination and support of the following industry clusters : Hellenic Digital Health Cluster (HDHC), Hellenic BioCluster (HBio), Hellenic Photonics Cluster (HPhos) and Innovation Greece.
Center for eHealth Applications and Services (CeHA) - Institute of Computer Science / FORTH
The Center for Electronic Health Applications and Services (CeHA) is a productive activity with mission to develop innovative, user-friendly, personalized digital tools to support effective and sustainable health services for all. It operates as part of the Computational Biomedicine Laboratory (CBML) of FORTH-ICS and its work focuses on the transfer of research results into operational use, with the vision of providing immediate and effective care where needed. Software developed by CeHA have been installed and operated in more than 60 health units in Greece, while also having clients abroad.
